Possible exception for practical education
No classes or exams on campus on Thursday or Friday, either
Practical teaching, such as laboratory practicals, may happen on campus, but it is up to the faculties to decide on a case-by-case basis. Students are therefore advised to keep an eye on Brightspace for updates. All exams have been cancelled.
Six buildings used for teaching will remain closed: Janskerkhof 15a, Israëlslaan, Educatorium, Marinus Ruppert, Daltonlaan 500, and Bolognalaan. Some offices might also close on Friday. Since it is up to the faculties to decide, they are also responsible for informing staff.
The Executive Board has justified the decision on the UU website, stating that snow and slippery conditions have made public transport unreliable this week, making it difficult for many to reach the university. The board hopes that these measures will enable most classes to be provided online. Students should check Brightspace for information about their classes.
No in-person classes or exams have been held at Utrecht University since Monday.
Next week
At around 4:00 pm on Sunday, the university will announce whether students and staff can return to campus on Monday, 12 January. The announcement will be published on the Intranet under the heading “news”, as well as on UU.nl and the student site, under the tab “news & agenda”.
Students and staff who exercise at Olympos or take a course at Parnassos will be notified if their classes are cancelled.
