Four USC members to appear in court in September

The Public Prosecution Service announced back in August 2025 that it intended to prosecute the four men. They are suspected of distributing a document containing offensive material. The four are alleged to have shared the list with fellow students.

The investigation initially identified six suspects, all of whom were members of USC. Two of them have been cleared of charges, as it has been established that they did not forward the document.

It remains unclear how the list ended up outside the students’ app groups. According to the Public Prosecution Service, its nationwide circulation had “serious consequences for the victims”. Victims include members of the Utrecht sorority UVSV.

In March 2024, USC distanced itself from the incident. One month later, it announced sanctions against the members involved. They were handed suspensions of up to eighteen months.

Utrecht University and the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences imposed several sanctions on USC in March 2024. As a condition for lifting these sanctions, the educational institutions demanded that USC demonstrate that a cultural change had taken place within the association. The final sanctions were lifted at the beginning of 2026.

In an interview with DUB, USC rector Cas Moerdijk said earlier this month: “The list was terrible and had far-reaching consequences for the victims. It also had a major impact on our association. It became painfully clear that we still had a long way to go to make the association a healthy and safe environment.”
