Students and staff advised to check the weather advice each day
No classes or exams as long as code orange remains in effect in Utrecht

The heavy snowfall has brought almost the entire country to a standstill. The conditions on the roads and railways are challenging, and trams have stopped working. For this reason, Utrecht University has cancelled all lectures and examinations for today. Initially, only the morning lectures would be cancelled. However, the university decided to cancel all classes and examinations for the remainder of the day because the code orange was still in effect, and the university was virtually inaccessible due to snow and slippery conditions.
If the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issues a code orange for the province of Utrecht for the rest of the week, lectures and exams scheduled for those days will be cancelled as well, and employees will be allowed to work from home. Students and staff are therefore advised to check the weather code each morning.
The code for Utrecht has since changed to yellow. Students should check the UU website to find out whether lectures and examinations will take place.
Students and staff who live outside the province of Utrecht are advised to consult their lecturers or managers if code orange no longer applies to Utrecht but does apply to the province they come from. Together, they will decide how to deal with lectures, exams, and work.
The tram to Utrecht Science Park (USP) still ran this morning, although many buses and trains were cancelled. Trams have since been cancelled as well. No buses operated in Utrecht at least until 2:00 pm. The double-articulated bus 28, destination Utrecht Science Park, will not be running all day because it is a longer vehicle that cannot operate safely in this weather. It is still unclear whether the timetable will resume in its entirety this afternoon. People are advised to check the journey planner app (9292OV).
