Personal data not out in the open
UU data not compromised by Odido cyber attack
Odido has been the victim of a cyber attack in which 6.2 million customer records were stolen. These include names, email addresses, bank account numbers, passport numbers, and driving licence numbers. Odido also operates subscriptions to providers Ben and Simpel, but Simpel was not affected by the attack.
Utrecht University has a business deal with Odido, so the telecom company does not have access to end users' personal data. The numbers held by the university are not linked to employee names at Odido.
However, employers who, for whatever reason, created an Odido account using their UU numbers may have had their data compromised.
