After the summer break
UU Vice-President will leave the university
Margot van der Starre joined the Executive Board on March 15, 2021. She is primarily responsible for financial matters, Information Technology Services (ITS), and Campus & Facilities. She is also responsible for the Centre for Science and Culture, which includes the Utrecht University Museum and the Parnassos cultural centre.
Among the reasons for her departure, she cites her desire to spend more time with her family, which she says is incompatible with her current role. “The past few years have been intense, both for the organisation and for me personally. The dynamics and complexity of this work are very demanding,” she is quoted by the UU website as saying.
She considers it a privilege to have done this work over the past few years, according to the same article. “This is primarily due to the passionate colleagues and teams with whom I have had the opportunity of working. Together, we have taken important steps for the future of UU, during a period of great challenges. We have worked hard to solve the ‘real estate puzzle’, weathered budget cuts imposed by the government, and made significant strides in making this university more sustainable.”
