Want to try something new? Come play Ultimate Frisbee!
On September 7th, 14th and 21st, we will be giving free beginners practices at Olympos to anyone that's interested! During UTKA’s beginner’s courses we will teach you the basics of Ultimate Frisbee: throwing, catching, playing together with others and the essential rules of the game, including “spirit of the game”. Everyone is welcome and no prior experience is needed! All you need are some sport clothes, a water bottle and outdoor shoes you can comfortably run on. The practices will be from 20:00 to 22:00 at Olympos on the Combiveld (furthest field next to the sporthall). There is no sign-up required, just be present on the field at 20:00.
What is Ultimate Frisbee?
Ultimate Frisbee is a fun, dynamic non-contact team sport, played with a disc! You play in a team against another team, and you try to reach the opposing team’s endzone by passing the frisbee around, as the other team attempts to stop you! It’s intense and tactical, and great fun all around. Sportsmanship is at the heart of our sport: we play without a referee, enforcing the rules of the game ourselves, and this works even at the world championships!
Who are we?
UTKA is Utrecht’s student Ultimate Frisbee association. Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, mixed-gender, and non-contact sport that is played with a disc. Throughout the year practices are held outside; additionally there is an indoor season during winter. Besides playing Ultimate at practices, it’s also possible to participate in competition days and tournaments. UTKA values its welcoming environment and relaxed atmosphere. Having a good time together is definitely prioritised here; all levels are encouraged to play along and there is also a social committee that organizes fun events off the field.
