On Sunday morning, the action group UU Encampment announced on Instagram that they had left. “Not because we are giving up the fight, but because we would rather not spend our money on legal fees.”
UU had threatened to take legal action if the occupation was not over by noon on Sunday. Drift 25 had been in the activists' hands since Tuesday, December 2. According to UU, this caused major problems for the university's educational schedule.
The end of the occupation came one day after three UU buildings were vandalised. The occupiers denied involvement in those actions.
According to a UU spokesperson, the building will be inspected on Sunday in collaboration with the police and remain closed on Monday, December 15, for repairs and cleaning.
