‘A rich student life for everyone’

Tibbe Klein appointed as student assessor to the Executive Board

De nieuwe studentassessor Tibbe Klein

Tibbe Klein is a third-year Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS) student majoring in Mathematics. In addition to his studies, he is on the boards of the Utrecht Student Choir and Orchestra (USKO) and the Utrecht Student Alpine Club (USAC). He was a member of the LAS programme committee for 2022-2023 and the representation council of his secondary school. "I have taken classes at many different programmes and I am on the boards of two associations”, Tibbe Klein says on the Intranet.

"These experiences have familiarised me with the diversity of students, teachers, teaching methods, and organisations that UU has to offer. As the new student assessor to the Executive Board, I want to work towards a rich student life for everyone, in which students not only have access to high-quality education, but also have room to work on personal development by serving on the board of a study or student organisation for a year, for example."

Student voice
The student assessor advises the Executive Board on education and student affairs. This student participates in weekly meetings with the Executive Board, as well as consultations with the faculty boards and between the Executive Board and the deans. The student assessor is also expected to stay closely in touch with students, including the student assessors to the faculties, the student members of the University Council, and student organisations.

Klein will take on his new role at the end of September, which is later than usual. Normally, the student assessor takes up their position on September 1, but this year was an exception. Sociology student Nienke Luijckx had been appointed to the role, but she had to step down for personal reasons, leading the university to urgently search for a new candidate.
