Tram derails at Galgenwaard, no one injured

The tram that goes from Utrecht Central Station to the Utrecht Science Park derailed this Tuesday morning, March 16, after a collision with a van. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The accident took place at Galgenwaard station. The details of how it happened and how many passengers were in the tram are still unknown. Dutch newspaper AD published some pictures on Twitter.

The company U-OV, which operates the tram line, announced that it will not be possible to resume the tram traffic to and from the university this Tuesday. The traffic on Hercuslaan street is also blocked.

Lijn 22: Als gevolg van de aanrijding is de tram ontspoord en de bovenleiding zwaar beschadigd. Er zijn geen gewonden. De verwachting is dat er vandaag geen tramverkeer meer mogelijk is. We houden je op de hoogte.
