Asked about their overall satisfaction, UU students this year gave a 4.0 on a five-point scale. That is 0.1 higher than last year and 0.2 higher than the average for all universities.

The atmosphere within study programs is usually fine as well. On average, UU students give that a 4.2, also slightly higher than the average. The results fit into a national picture that the Hoger Onderwijs Persbureau recently outlined. The HOP noted that students in higher education are increasingly “daring to be themselves.”

Otherwise, the UU survey results hardly differ from last year's. Only the verdict on university facilities is slightly better now, too.

UU scores higher than the national average of all institutions on almost all themes. Especially when it comes to “involvement and contact” and “content and design of education,” students are slightly more positive than elsewhere.

Exception

As in previous years, there is one exception. Bachelor's students from Utrecht are particularly dissatisfied with the connection between their study and professional practice. They give UU a 3.1 for this, slightly lower than the average for other universities. Obviously, universities of applied sciences score better than universities in this regard.

A total of 10,004 UU students completed the survey this year. That is a response rate of 26.1 percent. Last year, the response rate was 26.8.

Nationwide, 260,000 students participated in the survey commissioned by the Ministry of Education. With the results, students can compare study programs, for example on the website Studiekeuze123 or in the Keuzegidsen for higher education. Study programs can also use the results to reflect on their own performance.
