Artificial intelligence is fully present in our daily lives. Yet the general knowledge about it is limited. What is technology able to do, and more importantly, what not? What is the hype and what is real? The idea that robots and / or artificially intelligent systems will take part in our society is getting more and more accepted in society. In part this is a hype, but there is certainly a core of truth in the expectation that such systems will become a permanent part of production and service provision. The rise of artificial intelligence and robots also has a profound impact on the way we look at ourselves. There will be robots that clean, work and install more efficiently than we do. Creative robots, wise robots, loving robots. But what does that mean for us?
Artificial intelligence is an emerging technology of which we can expect a very quick development. There are many advantages, but there are also disadvantages and perhaps even risks, especially from an ethical perspective. We will talk about these themes with with Dr. Marcel Heerink. Dr. Marcel Heerink is an Associate Lecturer Robotics at Hogeschool Windesheim. He specialized in the psychological, philosophical and ethical aspects of relationships between humans and robots and wrote a book about it: 'As long as your robot loves you'.
