Tony Manero and his friends dream of the unattainable Manhattan, just across the river. They hit the dance floor every Saturday night to escape their harsh reality. Young and attractive, Tony is adored at the disco. He leaves his steady dance partner Annette when he meets Stephanie Mangano, with whom he moves to Manhattan.
