Canal Street Jazz Band

Velvet night and a low-slung moon,
streetlights blinkin’ in gold and blue.
Stars on the sidewalk, what a view
Feelin’ like a club on the waterfront.

Silly Goose, sing it!

White feathers, strut so pretty,
glidin’ through Central City.
Bread and wine, oh so divine,
lookin’ sharp like Mr. Eckstine.

Silly Goose, sing it!

Honkin’ through the loud chit-chat
the canal is your worn-out doormat
Jazz splits, don’t you hiss—
your peck sounds like a slow soul kiss.

Geese wailin’ like the devil,

we’re just spinning slot machines.
No time for golden eggs—
just sir, don’t make me beg
‘cause I will.

Silly Goose, sing it!

So flap it loud, let the horn go loose—
Strut that beat, silly golden goose!
From dusk till dawn, you’re the talk of the town,
that silly goose won’t stop gettin’ down.

Sing it! Silly Goose, sing it!
