Hundreds of additional student residences to be built in Kanaleneiland
More than half of the residences on Livingstonelaan will be independent studios. 45 percent will be rooms with shared facilities. Students who move in will receive a campus contract.
More than half of the residences on Livingstonelaan will be independent studios. 45 percent will be rooms with shared facilities. Students who move in will receive a campus contract.
The ground floor will have educational spaces, a meeting area, and bicycle storage. Additionally, there is a plan to introduce more greenery to the surroundings.
"There is a significant shortage of housing for several target groups, including students. Additionally, there is a need for sustainable and future-proof classrooms. This location allows us to combine all that in a beautiful way, which is why I am very satisfied with this step," says Eelco Eerenberg, alderman for Spatial Planning and Education.
The environmental plan will be presented to the city council in 2024. The demolition of the current building will commence in 2025. It will take two more years for the student residences to be ready.
