In the meeting that took place on May 29, Urlings referred to a pilot conducted by the municipality and province on April 14, a day when the football club FC Utrecht played at Galgenwaard Stadium. Trams were deployed between Utrecht Centraal and the stadium to meet the increased demand. Urlings hopes that this pilot will “open the door for an extension of operating times for this tram line," he said in the meeting.

André van Schie, Mobility Portfolio Holder at the Province of Utrecht, reports that the province would like to make Utrecht Science Park easier to reach this next tender period. Between December 2025 and December 2035, all public transport in the province will be outsourced to Transdev and Keolis. It is unclear what this means for the timetable at USP. First, the results of the April 14 pilot must be evaluated and other forms of timetable expansion must be tested, such as additional trams at weekends. The province is dependent on transport companies. It should also have enough staff, which is difficult enough, according to Van Schie.

The municipality of Utrecht has also received requests to expand the tram's timetable, both from local residents and companies, including FC Utrecht. The province then looked into possibilities, but the costs would be too high compared to the revenues, as this is a line with a relatively low number of users. The question remains whether the results will be different.
