Programmes get better scores
Utrecht and Wageningen top Keuzegids rankings again
Keuzegids is a publication that helps prospective students choose the best place to study in the Netherlands by assessing and ranking Bachelor’s programmes. Utrecht once again tops the list in the category "general universities". UU was praised in the fields of health, law and governance. The second place goes to Radboud University Nijmegen, which also scored well in these areas.
Leiden University bumped Groningen and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam from their shared third place. Just like last year, the University of Amsterdam is last. Keuzegids states that this is due to the low scores obtained by their Economics & Business programmes.
Striking
In the category “other universities”, Wageningen has further increased its lead on the Open University. The University of Twente is in third place again because Maastricht University lost 2.5 points.
Erasmus University Rotterdam was a striking climber this year, receiving an impressive 3.5 more points than last year. As a result, Delft University of Technology now takes last place, with the Eindhoven University of Technology just ahead.

The good news for Utrecht University is that programmes that faired poorly in other years seem to be doing better this year. Liberal Arts & Sciences, Artificial Intelligence and Economics are still the ones with the lowest scores but all three do better than last year. Only Communication & Information Science takes a tumble. Last year, the programme was in the middle bracket with 74 points and now it is assessed with 54 points.

Keuzegids' editors base their assessments on the results of the National Student Survey, in which 286,000 students took part this spring. They were asked to score the contents of their degree programmes, their teachers, the assessments, the atmosphere and the way they are being prepared for their careers.
Another contributing factor is how many students continue on in the second year and whether they graduate within four years.
