New student accommodation building at De Kwekerij

Student housing provider SSH will get 3 million euros from the government to construct a building with 375 new student rooms at De Kwekerij. Construction works will start within two years.

The contribution from the National Scheme for Housing At-risk Groups is very welcome. SSH intended to build more student rooms on the former KPN complex on Burgemeester Fockema Andrealaan, but could not get funding until now.

The project will be complete after the construction of a fourth residential tower, says SSH. Around 1,100 students and young people will live there. This autumn, the penultimate building was completed: Baobab, which houses 206 students.

Next year, the municipality of Utrecht can apply for another subsidy for a project to build student rooms. The House of Representatives has earmarked funds to build student accommodation.
