Public transport timetable will be expanded in mid-December
Soon there will be more bus lines to Utrecht Science Park
Thanks to the expansion of the timetable, buses will run more frequently on certain routes or during rush hour. This includes bus lines 27 (Zuilen-Utrecht Science Park), 18 (Central Station – Rijnsweerd), 29 (Vleuten – Utrecht Science Park) and 34 (Westraven – Utrecht Science Park). In addition, a new bus line will be introduced between USP and Houten: line 32.
Buses to and from the campus will also run more frequently during off-peak hours and continue running until later in the evening. This includes lines 28 (Vleuten – Central Station – USP), 29 and 34. On weekends, Transdev, the new transport operator that will serve the province from December onwards, will offer more trips on four bus lines. In December, line 27 will also start running during the Christmas and summer holidays.
Tram line
It is still unclear whether the tram connecting Utrecht Central Station and Utrecht Science Park will also run at weekends. Transdev says it is still investigating with the province if it is possible to increase the number of journeys. Last year, the province of Utrecht indicated its intention to make the Uithof line run more frequently at weekends. Additional funds were allocated for this purpose, and the province aimed to have the tram running regularly at weekends by 2026. Currently, this only occurs during specific events, such as open days and football matches involving FC Utrecht. Transdev and the province are also discussing the possibility of increasing the frequency during rush hour on working days to 16 times per hour. In any case, the tram frequency will not be changed on December 14.
