The AI helpdesk will be officially launched at a conference in Utrecht. Users can access the website ikhebeenvraagoverai.nl to learn more about AI use and its impact. Young researchers from Utrecht University will provide the answers.

A few questions have already been answered, such as "Will AI replace doctors?" and "How can we distinguish between real data from AI-generated data?" Another question answered on the platform concerns the environmental impact of ChatGPT. The extensive response was provided by a lecturer from the Copernicus Institute for Sustainable Development. "Giving instructions to ChatGPT costs as much energy as using a microwave for 12 seconds at 900W", he explains.

Through this project, the Utrecht Young Academy (UYA) hopes to make scientific knowledge about artificial intelligence accessible. UYA informs in a press release that participating researchers come from a wide range of disciplines.

This is not a new approach. About four years ago, members of the UYA launched a similar helpdesk about the climate. Scientists from all over the country helped answer questions about climate change and sustainability online (in Dutch only).
