Call for theatre talent
While the initiative is taken by two international staff members of Utrecht University, members do not necessarily have to be affiliated with the UU. Anyone with amateur or semi-professional experience in acting, dancing, singing, composing music, playing instruments, mimicry or other performing arts is welcome to apply. Ideally, multidisciplinary performances will be prepared. People who are interested to become ordinary members, directors or assistant directors, please send an email to Paris Petrou at paraskevaspetrou@gmail.com, or call 06 19766336 (evenings only).
Coming up
24 and 25 April: Civilizations: Clash or Dialogue? This two-day Liberal Arts & Sciences’ Conference hosted by University College Utrecht is one of the highlights of UCU’s 10th anniversary celebration. Students and staff of UU are invited to join in. Starting point of the challenging out-of-classroom discussion amongst students, teachers and experts is Samuel Huntington’s much-debated Clash of Civilizations’ thesis from 1993. The conference will focus on the probabilities of clash or dialogue between three of the civilizations that were distinguished by Huntington: the West, China and Africa. The conference starts on Friday, April 24 at 9 a.m. at the UCU campus. On Saturday, April 25, masterclasses, a keynote lecture, stand-up comedy and the closing speech are scheduled. Registration is required. For further information and registration, please visit www.ucuniverse.com/page/conference.
